Clemson University

Clemson, South Carolina is home to none other than Clemson University. Founded in 1889, Clemson University is currently ranked as the 20th best public university in the nation. Considered a selective university, Clemson is academically competitive. In addition, Clemson is athletically competitive with four national championships under its belt. The Clemson Tigers football team honored the school with one of those national championship titles in 1981.

The Clemson University Fighting Tigers play in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), as well as the Atlantic Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). Their football program is ranked 29th overall by their win/loss ratio and was one of the founding members of the ACC. On top of that, the Clemson Tigers pride themselves with 20 total conference titles and 37 bowl appearances!

Before 2014, the Clemson Tigers even held the most titles at 14. As of now, the team maintains four consecutive seasons with 10 or more wins, which ranks them at number 4th in active 10 or more wins! They play their home games in Memorial Stadium at their main campus, which is commonly known as "Death Valley” after being labeled by an opposing coach post an extensive number of wins by Clemson at their home field. The head coach at the time this nickname began was given Howard’s Rock, which now is a large part of the players’ game time rituals. The rock began being ritualistically rubbed in 1967, a game which the Tigers crushed one of their then rivals: Wake Forest.

Clemson University is all about traditions and team spirit having such a successful track in rankings across the board. In 2012 the school even received the honor of having the best tailgate according to Southern Living. Additionally, Clemson University also has a long list of rivals. Their rivals include South Carolina, Georgia Tech, NC State, Florida State, Boston College, Georgia, and Auburn.

The team has completed 5 undefeated seasons, has 18 conference titles, 3 division championships, six college hall of fame inductees, 3 retired numbers, and many other awards. Fans are always seen showcasing their pride for the Clemson Tigers in the team’s colors: orange and regalia.
